TV Show Based on Minority Report to Air on Fox
November 16, 2014Fox announced today that they have picked up rights to a Minority Report TV show based on the 2002 film.
The Steven Spielberg movie was based on a Washington DC-based organization that arrests people based on visions of the future from psychics. These psychics – called “precogs” in the movie – could see crimes not-yet-committed and send officers to arrest the would-be perpetrators before the crimes take place. The film starred Tom Cruise, Colin Farrell, and Samantha Morton.
The show will take place ten years after the events of the movie, and Fox has stated that it will focus on one of the former precogs who was forced to experience crimes before they happened. The secondary character will be a female mentor who will help the precog use his special skills.
The show is to be written by Max Borenstein, writer of this year’s Godzilla screenplay.
It is common knowledge among fans of a certain show that Fox isn’t the best at sticking with their science fiction shows, but with the proven success of the movie, perhaps the Minority Report production will have a chance.
