The Lotus C-01

The Lotus C-01

The motorcycle gods have shined their six-speed love upon us. It’s been a while since a motorcycle has invoked a spirited response from us lovers of two-wheeled moto lovers. Just recently, the brilliant minds at Lotus revealed that they will begin producing the C-01, a 200-hp v-twin marvel that keeps the cafe racer spirit alive and well.

The C-01 is built on a carbon fiber frame and was designed by Daniel Simon, the man behind a little car called the Bugatti Veyron…you may have heard of it.

Simon said, “The design process of the C-01 was a labour of love, there were many challenges, ensuring that the bike not only touches your visual senses with its timeless blend of classic appeal and modern execution, but that is safe and ergonomically sound was critical to me. We have worked hard to create a motorcycle with very distinctive features such as a clean main body, an extremely low side profile, a bold stance, a unique air intake, logical partline solutions and clean graphics.”

On another note, we also sat around and wondered about how many clever ways we can work “Simon said” into casual conversation.

Lotus will only produce 100 of the C-01, which is proof to me that neither you or I have the resources or clout to actually get on one. That’s ok, my girlfriend Kate Upton is going to give Lotus a call. That should straighten everything out.
