PT Gives a Glimpse of Horror Without the Gore

P_T__20140815170332.0This PS4 game demo opens with a familiar horror trope: you’re laying on the ground in an empty, dimly lit room. A cockroach waves its antennae in front of you. You hoist yourself up to see that the only fixture in the room is a door, slightly ajar.

What comes next is pure, electrifying horror. Gory games like The Evil Within don’t even come close to the unease you feel when you walk down a hallway or approach a closed, rattling door in PT. The tropes used are simple, yet effective at building up tension and not letting go until the ending is reached (or you’ve had enough adrenaline for the day). The ending is difficult to solve, so plan not to finish the teaser in one sitting. If you don’t have a PS4, consider watching a Let’s Play of PT, because it is worth the watch.

Hideo Kojima (Metal Gear Solid) and Guillermo del Toro (Pan’s Labyrinth, Hellboy) have come together to create the newest Silent Hill game – and this is just a teaser. Featuring Norman Reedus (The Walking Dead), the final game is sure to terrify anyone brave enough to pick up the controller.
