“Pain and Gain” starring Mark Wahlberg and Dwayne JohnsonJanuary 21, 2013
“Pain and Gain” is a new film directed by Michael Bay (Transformers, Bad Boys, Pearl Harbor) in where Mark Wahlberg plays a down-on-his-luck gym rat named Daniel Lugo. Upon meeting Victor Kershaw, an asshole criminal under lord played by Tony Shalhoub (Monk), Lugo concocts a plan to kidnap him and take over all of his assets.
In order to do this, he’s going to need some muscle. He recruits a Paul Doyle, an ex-con that works out at his gym, played by Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson and his best friend, Adrian Doorball played by Anthony Mackie (The Adjustment Bureau, Man on a Ledge)
The men pull of the kidnapping and force Kershaw to sign over all of his assets to the crew, and then the partying begins. Lugo and the team go on a binge of partying, cars, houses and women. As any person would do with millions of stolen dollars at their disposal.
The guys are living the dream, but all good things must come to an end. Of course, Kershaw can’t let it slide and brings in the heavy artillery to eliminate them.
The film is a well-crafted action comedy that will keep you laughing and entertained. Dwayne Johnson does and excellent job as the gentle giant, and Wahlberg plays the underdog who’s had enough to a tee.
“Pain and Gain” is scheduled to hit theaters on April 26th.
