Meet ‘Cassisus’ The World’s Largest Croc In Captivity
September 21, 2014There are very few thing that I’m afraid of. Wait, strike that. There are lots of things I’m afraid of, especially gigantic crocodiles.
Meet Cassius, the world’s largest captive crocodile. Cassius was rescued way back in 1987 by George Craig, Cassius’s caretaker for the past 30 years, and owner of Marineland Melanesia, a crocodile sanctuary and art gallery in Australia’s beautiful Great Barrier Reef .
Cassius is 18 feet long and weighs in at 2,200 lbs. It’s estimated that he’s about 111-years old, and has a bit of an attitude problem to boot. Before he was rescued, the surly old dinosaur was known for attacking boats and snapping off outboard motors.
Craig and Cassius have built a great relationship over the years, but Craig is definitely sure that Cassius would eat him if given the opportunity. Now that’s love.
