I Love You to Death

Tom French is an artist who has mastered the marriage of love and death through his portrayal of skulls mixed with romantic illusions.

I guess you could wonder if the illusion of love is death or, it’s that even through death, there is love. Or maybe, if you look hard enough, love will prevail. Whatever thought it provokes, French has done an exceptional job at freaking me out. Not all of French’s pieces are death/love related, but the dance of hopeless love has certainly become his calling card.
