Five Must Play Video Games For Halloween
October 26, 2012So, you want to scare the crap out of yourself in the absolute nerdiest way possible? Well, we’ve got the medicine. These are our five must play video games to ring in the creepy day of skulls, free candy, and slutty nurse outfits.
1. Amnesia, the Dark Descent (PC): Perhaps one of the scariest games of the year, heck maybe in the past few years. Why? Because you’re completely set up for failure, much like it would be in real life if there was a zombie apocalypse.
The game doesn’t provide you with adequate weapons, firebombs, or any other type of WMD that can kill 20 zombies at once.
Most times, all you can really do is run, hide and hope not get get your eyes turned into soup.
You’re pretty much walking around in the dark with a spoon hoping not to get murdered. It’s like you’re playing a nightmare.
A truly creepy game. Hide yo wife, Hide yo kids, they eatin errbody up in here.
2. Limbo (360, PS3, PC): A quote saying that “Limbo is genius. Freaky, weird genius.Disturbing, uncomfortable
genius.” kind of wraps up this very eerie, doomsday undertone. No music, no dialogue, no color… just a young boy, searching for clues to find his sister.
This mind-bending puzzle game was designed with failure in mind.
The developers created extremely gruesome death scenarios of the boy to steer player away from choosing incorrectly. Awesome strategy.
In my eloquent, yet vivacious choice of vocabulary, it’s a complete mindfuck. You’ve been warned, now go try it out.
The Walking Dead (360, PS3, PC, iOS): There’s no doubting that the success of The Walking Dead has spring boarded plenty of zombie inspired movies, games, and other crap.
However, there’s a reason The Walking Dead is a historic franchise, because they can continue to produce award-winning material for their faithful fans. Just recently, The Walking Dead Magazine made it’s debut at the New York Comic-Con.
The Walking Dead video game does not disappoint. Extremely engaging story lines with characters, a litany of interactions, choices, and repercussions as the game progresses. And of course, state-of-the-art zombies to keep you up at night. Insanely graphic kills, lots of blood and mayhem. Not a bad combo. A Must play for The Walking Dead purists out there.
Dead Space 2 (360, PC, Ps3):The Dead Space franchise offers a haunting journey with great action and a pretty
horror- filled good ol time with the Necromorphs (No mind, they’re are only the flesh-eating aliens you’ll be fighting). The game has been praised for it’s well-played horror plot.
It’s been described as one of the most grotesque, disturbing, and unsightly games ever.
Also, the most terrifying beginning 15 minutes on any game console. Well, all you need now is an extra pair of underwear and your thunderbuddy.
Painkiller Hell & Damnation (PC): Probably one of the most fitting titles for a Halloween scary game fest, and the gameplay pretty much follows suit.
You’re “Heaven’s Hitman”, sent to destroy an army of demonic creatures.
Extremely fun and fast-paced. just keep shooting and they die, don’t worry, your character has an arsenal of feel-good weaponry that would make Clint Eastwood and Ted Nugent jealous.
Tune in on October 31, when the game will be available for download.
