Laura Vandervoort

Laura Vandervoort (13)Hailing from the land of eh and hockey, Canadian actress Laura Vandervoort has been torching up the screen since 1997, when she landed her first lead role as Sadie Harrison on the CTV series, Instant Star. Since then, she has appeared in TV shows like CSI, and Smallville. On the big screen, she’s starred opposite Mark Wahlberg in the comedy, TED. You know, that film about the magical talking stuffed bear that was always horny, and high. Thunder buddies for life.

As of late, Vandervoort is the lead actress in the Canadian series, Bitten, where she plays the world’s only female werewolf, Elena Michaels. Bitten is the highest rated original series on the network to date, and it was renewed for a second season this May.

And while being a superstar actress is great, it’s not Vandervoort’s defining quality, as she displays great depth of 0268.lauraPETAvert72character through her works outside of acting. She is one of the few celebrities to contact PETA about how she could help the cause, and is now a huge advocate for animals, specifically reptiles, who kinda get the shaft on the media sympathy train.

How can a snake compare to a furry bunny with a Sara McLaughlin song playing in the background?

Although, it’s pretty fitting that Vandervoort plays an animal full-time, as she’s expressed that she gets along with animals better than most people.

Outside of her duties with PETA, she’s a champion for strong women, and giving young girls a positive influence not driven by sexuality and how little clothes she wears.

Although, Vandervoort is not afraid to show her sexy side, but she’s certainly not one to use it simply because she can, or for “likes” .She’s confident enough to show her body in tasteful manner.

Vandervoort recently authored a children’s book called Super Duper Delia, a story of a quirky 8-year-old girl who dresses a little funny and acts a bit odd. Basically, it’s a the biography of Zooey Deschanel, and the prequel to New Girl.

Her motivation for penning the book, to inspire young girls to be strong and independent. Something that she fights to do everyday in Hollywood, steering clear of roles that will hamper her goal to portray strong females.

So, that’s about all I have left to write about the dynamic and truly inspirational Laura Vandervoort. Oh yeah, she’s engaged. So my plan to show up to the set of Bitten, painted like a snake, is probably not going to work out in my favor. Some might say it wouldn’t have worked, anytime. Ever.

Good point, lads.
