The Jaguar Lightweight E-Type
September 6, 2014Summon you inner rat pack with the 2014 hand-built Jaguar E-Type. Also, you pretty much have to buy a car that was built by an outfit called ‘Jaguar Land Rover Special Operations’. The E-Type houses a 3.8 liter, inline v-6 with a respectable 340-hp and 280 ft lbs of torque.
The project is a historically driven one. In 1963, The ‘Special GT E-type’ project was slated to make 18 E-types, but only 12 were created, leaving six abandoned. Now with the help of a bunch of covert auto builders, the remaining six will come to life, and here’s the kicker, each car will bear the chassis number of the ‘missing six’
Here’s the good news, you don’t have to worry about many of these being on the road. Bad news, they’re only making six…And I couldn’t even find a price tag. The first prototype of the E-type was recently showcased at Pebble Beach, to a raucous crowd, who were mostly wearing khakis and polo shirts.
